Last week, your very own LA Movie Club, took on Matt Dillon and his Armored truck posse. Though both sides lacked a bit of the star-power that usually frequents these types of events, it was still a slugfest. One that the LAMC survived, with only a few scrapes and bruises.
Armored took it’s time setting up for most of the bout, fleshing out everyone’s relationships and backgrounds. It attempted to throw in some flash at the beginning to draw the gang in, but the slow pace that followed only left itself a bit tired and sluggish. Once things finally got underway, Armored threw exactly what it had telegraphed in the preview. In essence, it didn’t make mistakes, but it didn’t exactly have any bite to its punches either. Even with Morpheus, The Professional, and Skeet Ulrich in it’s back pocket, the film seemed gassed as it prepared it’s third act final push.
In the end, the LAMC came out on top with the help of some pre-fight entertainment in the form of the Legion and the Takers trailers. Both of which are probably still being thought about with great anticipation by our members. While the holidays are upon us, just know that the club is only reloading and prepping for a pretty outstanding January/February line-up. The beginning of the new year is also a perfect time to start coming out if you’ve never been. Stay tuned for more events in the coming weeks kids.
